Scientific Name Trogium pulsatorium
Location Baiting Hollow, Suffolk County, New York, USA
Comments I found this on an unused screen porch. There is a little colony of them living on a piece of paper with what looks like scattered bug parts. They seem to be eating the "bug parts" and I have seen them push another away on approach. They scoot around quickly. They appear to be quite flat, but I was not able to get a lateral view.

Comments The one on the left has been eating (I think eating) a pile of what looks like insect parts for the last 10 minutes. He has just chased off the intruder on the right.

This page is a Tree of Life Branch Page.

Each ToL branch page provides a synopsis of the characteristics of a group of organisms representing a branch of the Tree of Life. The major distinction between a branch and a leaf of the Tree of Life is that each branch can be further subdivided into descendent branches, that is, subgroups representing distinct genetic lineages.

For a more detailed explanation of the different ToL page types, have a look at the Structure of the Tree of Life page.
