This species occurs in cloud forest on the western slope of the Cordillera Occidental in Colombia.Type material
Holotype: Colombia: Risaralda, San antonio del Chamí-quebrada Sutú, 1800 m. 6 Jan. 1986, leg. J. Salazar. Deposited in the Natural History Museum, Universidad de Caldas.
Allotype and two paratypes from the same locality.
