Introduction

A mid-elevation (1200-2100 m.) species recently described from allopatric populations in eastern Peru (subspecies viloriai and northeastern Colombia (nominate subspecies).

Characteristics

Distinguished from similar Euptychia species by the ocellus in the tornus of the ventral hindwing.
